How To Install TWRP Recovery For LG G6

After a long wait, the TeamWin recovery has finally rolled out the TWRP 3.1 version for LG G6. With the new custom recovery, you will be able to root your device, install a custom ROM, or customize LG G6 as your liking. So in this post, we’ll show you steps to flash TWRP Recovery on your LG G6.

Before getting started, you first need to meet some certain requirements:
  • Back up all your important data in case there is something wrong happens.
  • Enable USB Debugging option in Settings > Developer Options.
  • Also turn on OEM Unlock section.
  • Download and install ADB fastboot driver on your computer:

  • Charge your LG G6 to at least 50% to avoid unwanted issues.
  • Don’t forget to unlock bootloader you G6 before dong the following steps. You can go to this link to unlock bootloader your G6.
  • This guide is only applied to LG G6 H870 smartphone, so you should not try it on other devices as it might end up bricking.
Steps to Install TWRP Custom Recovery on LG G6
1.      First, download the TWRP recovery file from here, place it into the ADB folder and rename it into ‘recovery.img’
2.      Now, access the ADB folder. Press the Shiftkeyboard button while right clicking on any blank space and select Open command window here to open cmd mode
3.      Next, connect your LG G6 to the computer and enter: adb reboot bootloader to boot your device into the fastboot mode.

4.      Now enter the command: fastboot device to display the serial number of your device and check if  your G6 is properly connected to.

5.      Now, enter fastboot flash recovery recovery.img in cmd to flash the TWRP recovery on your handset.
6.      Once the process is done, unplug the cable and press the Power button to reboot your G6.
